About the project
Sasayum Community Market is a place for society, children, students, to socialize, greet, and smile with others and as a place for sell goods, foods, and culinary to solve public space crisis problem and improve economy for micro business in Jetis, Kota Yogyakarta.
Social Problem: There isn't any public space for kids, society, students to meet each others. Even in 1.5 km radius nearby site!
Ecology: Decreasing green open space, urban heat island, decreasing soil water level in Yogyakarta.
Economy Micro: Uncontrolled micro non-formal economy activity near site and low capability for low-middle income class to start a business.
Economy Macro: High potential of economy activity because of site location near the highway, and Jetis government has a concern to develop tourism economy based in Jetis.
How to solve all this problem at the same time? Concept: Sasayum (Salam dengan Ibu Pertiwi, Sapa sesama saudara, Senyum melihat Untung).

Applicant and author of the project
David Chow, architecture student from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He has interest to make architecture as a media to solve nearby problems. He tend to prioritize efficiency of problem solving and programming than shape of a building. Most of his project showing his maturity design skill. He can control his own design urge in order to give the best solution for a problem. Form follows problem. One of his project, Sasayum Community Market, awarded as winner in DA 3 Award.
