Soviet Mid-Century: Warmth of Form and Color is a family apartment project located in the historic center of Moscow.
Passed down through generations, this apartment preserves not only its architectural heritage, but also the memories and everyday stories of a single family. From the very beginning, my goal was not to erase the traces of the past, but to turn them into the foundation of a modern home. Original Soviet-era furniture, books, decor items, and personal belongings were carefully preserved and seamlessly integrated into the new interior, allowing the apartment to maintain its distinct identity while adapting to the needs of a new generation. Pieces of Soviet furniture were reinterpreted—in some cases by altering the color, and in others, their function.
Using a palette of warm shades, soft forms, and tactile natural materials, I sought to recreate the atmosphere of Soviet mid-century interiors—spaces remembered for their warmth and sense of quiet comfort. The interior is further elevated by works of contemporary art.
