THE COMPACT HOUSE — TCH_01

Category
Best Project of Private Residence

About the project
TCH 01 Is not a house generated by its context, it is a system that responds properly to it. It has been designed as a system for the tight urban Lois in Lagos, Nigeria. It is planned around an idea of extreme resolution of the plans which forces the floor plates to be divided by a single gesture to create all its accommodation. Sitting on a small footprint of 11m x 11m (which is small for a Lagos house). The TCH 01 contains one self-contained apartment on the ground floor with an office for the owner’s use, an open living, dining and kitchen space with store and laundry and wet kitchen. The first floor contains three children’s bedrooms all ensuite and a family den connected to a curving balcony on the façade. This balcony has its balustrade made of breeze blocks, projected to be planted over with vines. Its last floor is a penthouse suite for the parents, complete with a gym, small living room space and a wraparound balcony with low floor lighting, open to the exterior.
