Project
Tower Chapel

Best Project of Public Building or Facility

About the project
This project takes us to the origins of architecture, to caves, megaliths, and mounds. The design starts with nature – with a hill where enormously large monolith concrete steps (or are they beams?) are installed. Atop, there’s an array of concrete blocks and slabs.
Inside the facility, the stairs go down to the altar with a water bowl. The chapel doesn’t have windows – light penetrates through the entrance and an opening between the slabs over the altar.
Here, the words ‘altar’ and ‘chapel’ are quite symbolic, like metaphors of ever-lasting issues. The facility is designed as a place for pilgrimage, meditation, as a room of silence and meeting nature.
