X House is located on an urban corner lot in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The design strategically leans against its neighboring structure to open up views and enhance natural ventilation, fostering a sense of introspection and retreat.
The house features a reinforced concrete exoskeleton system that defines both its structural logic and architectural expression. Diagonal supports transfer loads to the ground while freeing the interior from conventional columns, allowing for large spans and open-plan layouts. This structural strategy enhances spatial flexibility and maximizes the use of glazed curtain walls, which provide direct visual connection with the surrounding landscape.The exposed concrete elements emphasize structural honesty, while the contrast with transparent surfaces highlights a balance between mass and lightness. The exoskeleton not only ensures stability and seismic resistance but also becomes the primary architectural language, merging engineering performance with design.
