It is about the hidden shores of the soul, taming the shadow, and fighting monsters...
In such unstable times, theatre cannot outshine life in its force and impact. Instead, it primarily becomes a place for self-reflection and meetings. The semantic core of the project is a portrait of today’s transforming society. A ship not ready for launching — all covered with scaffolding, being rebuilt on the go by many people. Fingers stretching upwards. Bones of some sea monster pierced with light like a sword, on which something new is attempted to be built. Or a cocoon. A metamorphosis of transformation... Vertical stripes of light and darkness — an attempt to divide everything into good and evil.
The building is situated on the Andreyevsky Pier. To preserve pedestrian flow along the embankment, ensure the pier’s operation, and create viewing platforms and an inner green courtyard with a summer stage, the theatre is raised to the level of the ponds.
Reflected in the river, from the opposite bank the theatre resembles an hourglass — a symbol of changing time — or a bow tie.
