Project
Design Futures: bridging design journeys for a better future
Category Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project We envisage Design Museum as a thriving public space which celebrates, encourages and promotes innovations through design interactions and experiences. Our concept is generated by extending the lines of piers from the surrounding context onto the site. A set of blade walls parallel to the piers are placed 15 meters apart. Cuboidal volumes are further inserted through the blade walls at various levels. Intersections of these cuboidal volumes with each other offer ample sectional variations and contiguous spaces to accommodate galleries and display areas exhibiting design innovations through time. Elevating the functional areas above the ground has enabled us to open up free access to the ground which facilitates multi usage year round activities. Elevator at drop off point leads one to the sky walk offering spectacular panoramic views of the city and the water.
