Project: Library Renovation in Bolshaya Pustomerzha
Category : Best Design of Public Space by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant): The project aimed to modernize the library space, preserve its unique identity and introduce new functions to attract readers of all ages.
The design draws inspiration from the traditional ornaments of the northern peoples of the Kingisepp district, emphasizing the library’s cultural heritage and fostering a "dialogue" between generations. The ornaments are integrated into both the interiors and the overall layout.
A key proposal is to unify the library’s spaces into a single space, with zoning achieved through furniture and glass partitions, enhancing spatial flow and connectivity. Natural light has been increased via skylights, and the entrance area and building facades have been redesigned.
Location: Bolshaya Pustomerzha, Kingisepp District, Russia
Authors of the project: Yulia Moiseeva, Sofia Kravets, Andrey Shardin, students at St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering
Project status: Working drawings
