Project “MUSEUM LOCI. View of the Architects of the 21st Century”
Best Implemented Project of Temporary or Permanent Museum Exposition
About the project (provided by the applicant) This exhibition is a unique experimental art project in terms of scale and content, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Museum of Architecture. The exposition was formed by graphic works and art installations of 59 leading Russian architects. Representing different generations and schools, they conveyed the image of the Museum of Architecture that is most important and personal to them.
When designing the exhibition, Sergei Tchoban and Alexandra Sheiner sought to create functional and visually concise structures that would not distract from the works of their colleagues, while at the same time embodying the palette of key materials and plastic principles of contemporary architecture. Transparent light-permeable boxes on concrete bases served as stands for graphic works, while columns-podiums with a simple stepped silhouette became pedestals. The curatorial text and a timeline of the history of architectural museums were printed on a 7.5-meter glass panel, supported by a unique concrete structure created directly inside the museum.
