The performance tells the story of a fatal conflict between two queens, Mary and Elizabeth. Queen Mary’s biography has become a legend and was retold in dramas, novels, and poetry.
In 1801, Friedrich Schiller wrote his verse play about the events set in England in the 16th century, and for two centuries it was on every stage all over the world. Mary Stuart offers much room for artistic imagination, and that’s why stage directors always found it attractive.
