An architectural vernissage dedicated to the winners of the Golden Trezzini Awards was held at the Gosudarev (“Sovereign”) Bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress. The event also featured the presentation of the main prize, which is now manufactured by the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory.
On September 3, 2025, the official opening of the Architecture as Art exhibition took place in the conference hall of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. The exhibition showcases the laureates of the 7th International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design. The event was organized by the Worldwide St Petersburg Club, the Awards' Organizing Committee, and the Museum. It attracted significant interest from both professionals and the general public, filling the hall to capacity.
A key moment of the ceremony was the unveiling of the new version of the main prize, the Golden Trezzini statuette. Since 2025, it has been produced by the masters of the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, one of Europe's oldest porcelain manufactories, founded in 1744. Each statuette now bears the trademark "Imperial Porcelain, 1744, St. Petersburg" and the image of a double-headed eagle, guaranteeing its authenticity, high artistic quality, and enhancing its collectible value.
Evgeny Grigoriev, Member of the Government of St. Petersburg and Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, sent a welcome address to the participants. He highlighted the international scope of the project, the dynamic development of the Awards, and the high quality of the laureates' works.
Speeches were also given by Pavel Chernyakov, Chairman of the Awards' Organizing Committee; Vladimir Grigoriev, Director General of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg; Andrey Ermakov, Head of the Office of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for the Northwestern Federal District; Alexey Mikhailov, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Monuments (KGIOP); Sergey Makarov, Deputy Director General of the State Hermitage Museum; Sergey Lutchenko, Chief Architect of the Leningrad Region; Yulia Strizhak, Director of the Shalyapin State Musical Theatre; Daria Illarionova, Head of the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory "Heritage" Foundation; Konstantin Likholat, Director of the Keramarkh Museum; and Svetlana Gulchuk, Director of the Centralized Library System of the Moskovsky District.
Among those invited to the stage were last year’s laureates: sculptor Maria Tretyakova, curator Vladimir Dervenev, and Italian architect Vittorio Panicaldi.
The ceremony was hosted by Oleg Dmitriev, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee. The musical program was provided by opera singer Katerina Kovanji, who performed pieces by Georges Bizet and Ernesto de Curtis.
Following the official part, guests viewed the exhibition at the Gosudarev Bastion, which features 34 winning projects from Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Iran, Russia, Thailand, and Taiwan, plus over 40 finalist projects. The display includes architectural designs, interiors, restoration projects, exhibition and set designs, urban sculptures, architectural lighting, ceramics, and student works.
The opening was attended by distinguished guests, including Beatrice Latteier, Consul General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg; Viktor Sederkenyi, Consul General of Hungary; Hiroki Matsuo, Consul General of Japan; and Natsuki Kobayashi, Vice-Consul for Culture at the Consulate General of Japan.
The Architecture as Art exhibition will be on view at the Gosudarev Bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress from September 4 to 16 during museum hours.
The Golden Trezzini Awards were established in 2018 by the Worldwide St Petersburg Club and are named after the first architect of St. Petersburg, Domenico Trezzini. Winning projects become part of the collection of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg.
Applications for the 8th International Golden Trezzini Awards are accepted until September 17, 2025. Participation is free. The awards ceremony will be held on November 21 at the State Hermitage Museum.
